THE RETURN (1), by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON Poet Analysis Poet's Biography Last Line: To hide my anguish, in the night. Alternate Author Name(s): Tremaine, John Subject(s): Disappointment | ||||||||
Again we meeta flashing glance, And then, to scabbard, goes the lance, While thoughts troop on in cavalcade Adown the wide aisles time has made. Back in the glow of yesterday, With tender troth you rode away, The sheen of rainbows in our eyes, That swept the rim of other skies. And now a writhing worm am I, Beneath a doomed love's lensing eye, Let me but stagger, far from sight, To hide my anguish, in the night. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...INTERRUPTED MEDITATION by ROBERT HASS THE FATALIST: HOME by LYN HEJINIAN HOW IT ADDS UP by TONY HOAGLAND DISAPPOINTMENT by TONY HOAGLAND SENTIMENTAL EDUCATION by TONY HOAGLAND GRAY WEATHER by ROBINSON JEFFERS OLD BLACK MEN by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON |
