DARKNESS is thinning; shadows are retreating; Morning and light are coming in their beauty; Suppliant seek we, with an earnest outcry, God the Almighty! So that our Master, having mercy on us, May repel languor, may bestow salvation, Granting us, Father, of thy loving-kindness Glory hereafter! This, of his mercy, ever blessed Godhead, Father, and Son, and Holy spirit, give us, -- Whom through the wide world celebrate forever Blessing and glory! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 11 by MARK JARMAN LISTEN, LORD: A PRAYER by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON A PRAYER FOR THE FUTURE by GEORGE BARLOW (1847-1913) DIFFERENT WAYS TO PRAY by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE PRAYER DURING A TIME MY SON IS HAVING SEIZURES by SHARON OLDS WE WHO PRAYED AND WEPT by WENDELL BERRY PRAYERS AND SAYINGS OF THE MAD FARMER by WENDELL BERRY VENI CREATOR SPIRITUS by GREGORY I |
