THE BROKEN WATER WHEEL, by GHALIB IBN RIBAH AL-HAJJAM First Line: Singing as she dips Last Line: To catch the sighed applause. | |||
Singing as she dips, No word upon her lips; Every thirsty lad Salutes her, and is glad. Suddenly a fin Flies off, and stops her spin The twinkling of an eye, Then sends her swinging high. Like a songstress she Who breaks her melody, Straining at the pause To catch the sighed applause. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE CANDLE by GHALIB IBN RIBAH AL-HAJJAM THE PEN by GHALIB IBN RIBAH AL-HAJJAM THE STORK by GHALIB IBN RIBAH AL-HAJJAM THE TOOTHPICK by GHALIB IBN RIBAH AL-HAJJAM VULTURES by GHALIB IBN RIBAH AL-HAJJAM BRUTUS LIVES AGAIN IN BOOTH by EDGAR LEE MASTERS JOHN BROWN by EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON IN THE HOME STRETCH by ROBERT FROST THE MAIZE by WILLIAM WHITEMAN FOSDICK UPON JULIA'S CLOTHES by ROBERT HERRICK |
