THE BREEZE, by AL-HUSRI First Line: I breathed the blowing breeze Last Line: The embers, till they glow. | |||
I breathed the blowing breeze That haply it might ease My pains, and bring to me A fragrant air from thee. Alas, it roused instead Love's ardour from the dead, And published far and wide Love's secret I would hide. For when fresh winds suspire O'er an extinguished fire, They kindle as they blow The embers, till they glow. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...NEW YEAR'S DAWN - BROADWAY by SARA TEASDALE MONUMENT MOUNTAIN by WILLIAM CULLEN BRYANT THE DEPARTURE OF THE GOOD DAEMON by ROBERT HERRICK FOR THE BED AT KELMSCOTT by WILLIAM MORRIS (1834-1896) THE WILD DUCK'S NEST by WILLIAM WORDSWORTH PROFITABLE THINGS by WILLIAM ROSE BENET PSALM 3; WHEN HE FLED FROM ABSALOM; AUGUST 9, 1653 by OLD TESTAMENT BIBLE |
