OUR JUNIORS, by ANNA M. ALLEN First Line: They set a light upon the hill Last Line: Upon the hill a beacon light. Subject(s): Courage; Light; Youth; Valor; Bravery | ||||||||
They set a light upon the hill To aid the flier in the night; 'Tis youth who flies across the skies Guided by this beacon light. We placed a light upon the hill, That light is youth with all its beauty; 'Tis courage wins when life is new And ever filled with sense of duty. The torch was handed on to one Who handed on a lantern bright, And now in place of this there gleams Upon the hill a beacon light. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNLESS IT WAS COURAGE by MARVIN BELL THE QUALITY OF COURAGE by STEPHEN VINCENT BENET ON THE OREGON COAST; FOR WILLIAM STAFFORD by ROBERT BLY WORDS WITH WALLACE STEVENS by ROBERT BLY BUFFALO CLOUDS OVER THE MAESTRO HOON by NORMAN DUBIE A SONG OF COURAGE by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON THE AUDACIOUS by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON OH, THE WATER by DORIANNE LAUX THE JAIN BIRD HOSPITAL IN DELHI by WILLIAM MEREDITH SISTER MARIA CELESTE, GALILEO'S DAUGHTER, WRITES TO FRIEND by MADELINE DEFREES |
