MY PRAYER, by MAGDALEN BECK First Line: Jesus, son of god, my saviour Last Line: Amen. Subject(s): Prayer | |||
Jesus, Son of God, my Saviour, In humility I must Bow before You, and beseech Your Help. Oh, help me to be just. I would be more kind; more gentle; And more faithful to my trust. More like You, oh, gentle Jesus; More forgiving, and more just. Little stings that grieve and pain me; Snubs that bow me to the dust; Help me rise above the insults; Help, oh, help me to be just. Give me understanding, mercy; Keep me free from selfish lust; Give me breadth, and depth of kindness; Help, oh, help me to be just. I would be as cooling shelter; As a rock in weary dust. I would be what You would have me Be. Oh, help me to be just. Amen. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 11 by MARK JARMAN LISTEN, LORD: A PRAYER by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON A PRAYER FOR THE FUTURE by GEORGE BARLOW (1847-1913) DIFFERENT WAYS TO PRAY by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE PRAYER DURING A TIME MY SON IS HAVING SEIZURES by SHARON OLDS WE WHO PRAYED AND WEPT by WENDELL BERRY PRAYERS AND SAYINGS OF THE MAD FARMER by WENDELL BERRY |
