OF SUCH AS THESE, by MARION L. BERTRAND First Line: I close my eyes and I seem to see Last Line: The light that love is made of! Subject(s): Dreams; Nightmares | ||||||||
I close my eyes and I seem to see Myself slip into the seat by your side, Your hand caressingly pat my knee -- Oh, the world was good and the world was wide, Such things as dreams are made of! I opened my eyes to a day of pain -- Pain of others, mine own to stifle. This was my place, with a smile urbane I jollied them on till they laughed at trifles. Such things as smiles are made of! God wills and a dream comes true some day. Till then thank God for the gift of dreaming. "Let's go!" you'll cry and on our way We'll follow the silver light astreaming -- The light that love is made of! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VARIATIONS: 14 by CONRAD AIKEN VARIATIONS: 18 by CONRAD AIKEN LIVE IT THROUGH by DAVID IGNATOW A DREAM OF GAMES by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE DREAM OF WAKING by RANDALL JARRELL APOLOGY FOR BAD DREAMS by ROBINSON JEFFERS GIVE YOUR WISH LIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS COMPENSATION by MARION L.
