A VILLANELLE OF COLLEGE, by HARRY RANDOLPH BLYTHE First Line: The moon o'er the hills to-night! Last Line: The setting of youth's delight! Subject(s): Dartmouth College; Scholarship & Scholars; Universities & Colleges; Youth | ||||||||
THE moon o'er the hills to-night! A song where the spring-leaves blow, The setting of Youth's delight. Pale lamps of our learning's height! What is it shames you so? The moon o'er the hills to-night! O, the wine is sparkling bright With its subtle, sunshine glow The setting of Youth's delight. The halls are ivory white, The river mirrors below, The moon o'er the hills to-night. Our hearts were fashioned aright For the comradeship we know, The setting of Youth's delight. Come! We shall be happy in spite That all shall fleetingly go The moon o'er the hills to-night, The setting of Youth's delight! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BETWEEN THE WARS by ROBERT HASS THE GOLDEN SHOVEL by TERRANCE HAYES ALONG WITH YOUTH by ERNEST HEMINGWAY THE BLACK RIVIERA by MARK JARMAN A MEMORY by HARRY RANDOLPH BLYTHE |
