HILL CIRCLE, by FRANCES HALLEY BROCKETT First Line: I know a quiet little place Last Line: And sky-filled, sun-drenched air. Subject(s): Nature; Singing & Singers; Songs | ||||||||
I know a quiet little place, A circle in the hills, Where sun and shadow slant along In lovely shining rills Between the columns of the pines Whose far strong arms uphold A curving sky of tender blue Where wispy silver clouds float through, Entangling in the boughs. Was all of the song we knew! It's fragrant thereand very still. It's solemn sweetlike prayer, With just the circle of the hills And sky-filled, sun-drenched air. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE APOLLO TRIO by CONRAD AIKEN BAD GIRL SINGING by MARK JARMAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 4 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 5 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE THE SONG OF THE NIGHTINGALE IS LIKE THE SCENT OF SYRINGA by MINA LOY HARMONY by FRANCES HALLEY BROCKETT |
