MAY FLOWERS ARE OPENING, by EMILY JANE BRONTE Poet Analysis Poet's Biography Alternate Author Name(s): Bell, Ellis Subject(s): Spring; Flowers | ||||||||
May flowers are opening, āàAnd leaves unfolding free; There are bees in every blossom, āàAnd birds on every tree. The sun is gladly shining, āàThe stream sings merrily; And lonely I am pining, āàAnd all is dark to me. O cold, cold is my heart! āàIt will not, cannot rise; It feels no sympathy āàWith those refulgent skies. Dead, dead is my joy, āàI long to be at rest; I wish the damp earth covered āàThis desolated breast. If I were quite alone, āàIt might not be so drear, When all hope was gone; āàAt least I could not fear. But the glad eyes around me āàMust weep as mine have done, And I must see the final gloom āàEclipse their morning sun. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THEY SAW THE PROBLEM by MARK JARMAN SHAKE THE SUPERFLUX! by DAVID LEHMAN THE M??TIER OF BLOSSOMING by DENISE LEVERTOV TANKA DIARY (6) by HARRYETTE MULLEN VARIATIONS: 17 by CONRAD AIKEN FORCED BLOOM by STEPHEN ELLIOTT DUNN A DAY DREAM by EMILY JANE BRONTE |
