THE YOUNG MOTHER, by KAY CAMMACK First Line: From what strange journey am I safe returned Last Line: Knowing love conquereth. Subject(s): Mothers | ||||||||
FROM what strange journey am I safe returned, So wearied, yet content; These eyes still darkened with the mists of Death, All strength and courage spent, Yet with such strange, sweet stirring in my breast-- Such rapture, Heaven-sent. Shrinking, I left broad day and took the road Which led me close to Death, But curved about me were strong Angel wings Defying his chill breath As I snatched up my Joy and homeward drew, Knowing Love conquereth. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MY MOTHER'S HANDS by ANDREW HUDGINS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS IN THE 25TH YEAR OF MY MOTHER'S DEATH by JUDY JORDAN THE PAIDLIN' WEAN by ALEXANDER ANDERSON BLASTING FROM HEAVEN by PHILIP LEVINE THE SEARCH (1) by JAMES RUSSELL LOWELL |
