COURAGE REGAINED, by BERTHA TODD CAMPBELL First Line: A storm has damaged the corn crop Last Line: I am at peace. Subject(s): Hope; Optimism | |||
A storm has damaged the corn crop, A drought is scorching the hay, A payment is due on the homestead, -- I try to pray. Defeated I walk in the twilight, When lilting music is heard, Above my head in the willows: A mocking-bird. One wing hangs limp and broken, All night his song does not cease; New courage comes with the morning -- I am at peace. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HOPE IS NOT FOR THE WISE by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SONNET: 9.
