THE WIND CALLS, by EDWIN M. CASE First Line: Wind-riding clouds, now flying out of sight Last Line: Where spirit breaking close confines will go. Subject(s): Wind | ||||||||
Wind-riding clouds, now flying out of sight, Trail back an urge like that from open sea; Sheer distance and a wind in endless flight Outlive stray dreams devising what could be; Wide-opened way which leads to such expanse That dormant powers may come into their best, Renewing heart which broke of fitful chance -- Full-blooming that a modish rule suppressed. And this unrest which came to me half-known, Leans to the sweeping rush of wind, resigned Like pliant stems of alder trees half-grown; And then some awesome Presence -- not defined, Repels my reaching towards the veil, to know Where spirit breaking close confines will go. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE THREE CHILDREN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE WIND by LOUISE MOREY BOWMAN LEAF LITTER ON ROCK FACE by HEATHER MCHUGH RESIDENTIAL AREA by JOSEPHINE MILES THE DAY THE WINDS by JOSEPHINE MILES VARIATIONS: 12 by CONRAD AIKEN OH IT'S PRETTY WINDY OUTSIDE by LARRY EIGNER MOUNT KINGSTON by EDWIN M.
