Upon a mushroom there is spread A cover fine, of spider's web; And for her stool a thistle-down, And for her cup an acorn's crown, Wherein strong nectar there is fill'd That from sweet flowers is distill'd. Flies of all sorts, both fat and good, Partridge, snipes, quails and poult, her food, Pheasants, larks, cocks, or any kind, Both wild and tame, you there might find. But for her guard serves grosser meat, On stall-fed dormouse they do eat. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OF THE THEME OF LOVE by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH A POSSET FOR NATURE'S BREAKFAST by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH AN EXCUSE FOR SO MUCH WRIT UPON MY VERSES by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH DESCRIPTION OF THE ELFIN QUEEN by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH MELANCHOLY'S DESCRIPTION OF HER DWELLING by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH PERSONIFICATION OF MELANCHOLY by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH THE FUNERAL OF CALAMITY by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH THE HUNTING OF THE HARE by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH THE POETESS'S HASTY RESOLUTION by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH THE POETRESS'S PETITION by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH THE SOUL'S GARMENT by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH UPON THE THEME OF LOVE: THE BODY, A FANCY by MARGARET LUCAS CAVENDISH |
