MESA TWILIGHT, by JULIA MAY COURTNEY First Line: Day stalks across the mesa floor Last Line: On its world. Subject(s): Deserts; Food & Eating | ||||||||
Day stalks across the mesa floor And climbing high at evening Tints the jagged peaks With amber And with rose And molten jade. Then striding toward the sea Flings back A filmy purple scarf for coverlet To bind the tired hills And fold the drowsy hollows in first sleep Till Night shall lock the door of silence On its world. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WAITRESSING IN THE ROOM WITH A THOUSAND MOONS by MATTHEA HARVEY CANDIED YAMS' by TERRANCE HAYES DINNER OF HERBS by LOUISE MOREY BOWMAN THE BANQUET SONG by KENNETH KOCH SPLITTING AN ORDER by TED KOOSER |
