A PLANT WONDERS, by FLORENCE CROW First Line: I wonder if my growth had started soon Last Line: A little pot plant, perfect, miniature. Subject(s): Plants; Planting; Planters | ||||||||
I wonder if my growth had started soon In early morning, when all life was fresh, I might have been a tree whose giant mesh Lifts a cool shielding to the glare of noon -- A grand heroic tree whose hungry roots Reach to the secret places of the earth -- A mighty arbor, giant from my birth, Scornful of lesser growth and its disputes. But no, this little seed was planted deep. It lay quite dormant through those careless years. And only late its life began to leap Inhibited by timid doubts and fears. I shall be thankful if its growth insure A little pot plant, perfect, miniature. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...KILLING THE PLANTS by JANE KENYON NOW I AM A PLANT, A WEED by KATHERINE MANSFIELD TANKA DIARY (5) by HARRYETTE MULLEN A SMALL POET INQUIRES by FLORENCE CROW |
