WORLD PEACE HYMN, by BENJAMIN D. DAVIES First Line: On earth peace and goodwill toward men, the Last Line: Singing melodies of peace. Subject(s): Earth; Peace; United Nations; World | ||||||||
"On earth peace and goodwill toward men," the Holy angels sang that night, Great Jehovah give all nations Peace and grace to do the right; Grant us, O Lord, this special blessing That we hear of wars no more. Give all nations peace in this world As thou hast on that blest shore. Let all nations cling together Brothers, friends, let's ever be; We should dwell in peace in this world As through long eternity; It's now time for cooperation, All nations should friendly be Brothers, truly loving brothers Clasping hands across the sea. When all wars and strife are ended We'll have joy in ev'ry land. Dwelling safe 'neath vine and fig tree, Brother will clasp brother's hand; Great cannons' roars will be unheard then -- Bloodshed, misery shall cease. We'll walk with the King of Glory Singing melodies of peace. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BROKEN BALANCE by ROBINSON JEFFERS SUBJECTED EARTH by ROBINSON JEFFERS GEOMETAPHYSICS by MARGARET AVISON NIAGARA by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS SOPHISTICATION by CONRAD AIKEN I SEE CHILE IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR by AGHA SHAHID ALI WASHING OUR HANDS OF THE REST OF AMERICA by MARVIN BELL THE EARTH IS A LIVING THING by LUCILLE CLIFTON WAY DOWN SOUTH ON THE OLD S'WANNEE by BENJAMIN D.
