PROPHECY, by FRANCIS ALEXANDER DEWSON First Line: There is coming, my friend, as surely as water drops Last Line: So will they change the world. Alternate Author Name(s): Dewson, F. A. Subject(s): Brotherhood; Change; Future; God; Love; Peace; War | ||||||||
There is coming, my friend, as surely as water drops, a wide eyed breed, a clear eyed brood, clean as God's winds with a vision sent of Him, who will not deride previous generations, but who will ignore their smoke and ashes, who will bury their ruck, rubbish and broken idols, forget their bunk, bunkers and debunkers, despise their hatreds, intrigues, their politicians, their chicanery, grafts, greeds, wars, pomps and prides. These will drink of clean springs of Mind that this generation knows not of. They will know clean springs of Mind from which will come the brotherhood of man, the world's greatest good, a higher and fuller life, and a greater love, each man for his brother. They will discern what is and ever was: God's creation here, now, ready for the prodigal to turn again and find it. They will see Love as the only force and Man made in His image, so will they change the world. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...I AM YOUR WAITER TONIGHT AND MY NAME IS DIMITRI by ROBERT HASS MITRAILLIATRICE by ERNEST HEMINGWAY RIPARTO D'ASSALTO by ERNEST HEMINGWAY WAR VOYEURS by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA THE DREAM OF WAKING by RANDALL JARRELL THE SURVIVOR AMONG GRAVES by RANDALL JARRELL SO MANY BLOOD-LAKES by ROBINSON JEFFERS WHEAT by FRANCIS ALEXANDER DEWSON |
