ESCAPE, by                 Poet Analysis     Poet's Biography
First Line: I never heard the word 'escape'
Last Line: Only to fail again.
Variant Title(s): Poem: 77;poem: 144

I never heard the word "escape"
Without a quicker blood,
A sudden expectation,
A flying attitude.

I never hear of prisons broad
By soldiers battered down,
But I tug childish at my bars, --
Only to fail again.
