A HEARTH SONG (TO THE OTHER ARMCHAIR), by HARRY TENNYSON DOMER First Line: Here's a song for the dawn, for the noon Last Line: And a song, aye the sweetest -- a love-song -- for you! Subject(s): Music & Musicians; Singing & Singers; Songs | |||
Here's a song for the dawn, for the noon, for the night; A song for the "Little House," cozy and bright; A song for the fireplace so warm and so snug; A song for the doggie asleep on the rug. Here's a song for the kitchen, for stove, pan and pot; A song for the pantry, and beans piping hot; A song for the dining-room which "someone" prepares, With table and toaster and two waiting chairs. Here's a song for the parlor and views on the wall, And the grandest, big davenport (the best thing of all); A song for the sewing-room, bedroom and den; A song for the study, with books, pad and pen. Here's a song for the flowers we plucked in the park; A song for the sunlight, a song for the dark; A song for the whole house, chimney and flue; And a song, aye the sweetest -- a love-song -- for You! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE APOLLO TRIO by CONRAD AIKEN BAD GIRL SINGING by MARK JARMAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 4 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 5 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE THE SONG OF THE NIGHTINGALE IS LIKE THE SCENT OF SYRINGA by MINA LOY |
