STUDY IN STILL LIFE, by HILDEGARDE FRIED DREPS First Line: Regal lilies in a bowl Last Line: My buddah of desire. Subject(s): Silence; Soul; Stillbirth; Death - Childbirth | ||||||||
Regal lilies in a bowl, Whose fragrance feeds the soul, Blend with two waxen candles Tipped with gold. And I compare The ivory pages of an open book That lie serenely there. Close by, a Buddah calmly sits With desire in his mystic eyes. He gazes at the waxen candles, Because no light Flames from their golden tips. All this is light to me! Born of earthly fire ... It feeds my soul and satisfies My Buddah of desire. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY: ELIZABETH CHILDERS by EDGAR LEE MASTERS ANNIVERSARY by PRIMUS ST.
