PRAYER OF A YOUNG WIDOW, by KATHRYN DYE First Line: Let me love no more, o lord Last Line: An outcast of love. Subject(s): Widows & Widowers | |||
Let me love no more, O Lord. Let my lips shrivel to starved rivers, And my breasts to swept dunes. Let my body no longer fire the limbs of men, Let it not find joy in the bed of another; Let it only remember The strong warm crush of arms now dust -- A precious pain withdrawn. Leave his mark upon me, Lord. Let his kisses be branded upon my lips And his embraces seared into my flesh, Let me pass unwanted, Lord, -- An outcast of love. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A WIDOW SPEAKS TO THE AURORA'S OF A DECEMBER NIGHT by NORMAN DUBIE NEW AGE AT AIRPORT MESA by NORMAN DUBIE POPHAM OF THE NEW SONG: 5; FOR R.P.
