HUNTING SEASON, by OLIVER MURRAY EDWARDS First Line: A bird in the wildwood is singing Last Line: Life redeemed shall abide in his love. Subject(s): Animal Rights; Animals; Birds; Forests; Hunting; Wings; Animal Abuse; Vivisection; Woods; Hunters | ||||||||
A bird in the wildwood is singing, While a squirrel is seeking her all: A stag lifts his head as he listens, But he gives back no answering call. A hunter is stealthily creeping As he follows a leaf covered trail; The sun through green branches is streaming In a world where life strives to prevail. Where sorrow now mingles with beauty, With the blue of God's Heaven above: Some day, the Great Master hath promised Life redeemed shall abide in His love. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE LAMENT OF QUARRY by LEONIE ADAMS KILLDEER by KENNETH SLADE ALLING THE YOUNG FOWLER THAT MISTOOK HIS GAME by PHILIP AYRES A POEM ABOUT THE HOUNDS AND THE HARES by LISEL MUELLER A CHRISTMAS CAROL AND ANTHEM by OLIVER MURRAY EDWARDS |
