A CAPTIVE DEER, by IDA M. FOLSOM First Line: A spirit cowed, that once has faced Last Line: A spirit cowed? Subject(s): Courage; Death; Deer; Freedom; Valor; Bravery; Dead, The; Liberty | ||||||||
A spirit cowed, that once has faced The vast indomitable waste, Is one with death. Defeated he Still scorns to bend the conquered knee, Or drink the cup of his distaste. The narrow confines that replaced The stretches he had known and graced Are writing large in destiny A spirit cowed. But stalwart heart, that proudly raced In tune with tempests as he paced, Has bred in him eternity, And deathless courage holds the key To timeless freedom. He debased?
