MY GARDEN GUESTS, by ROBERTA GAGE First Line: A bluebird found a hole in my old china tree Last Line: God fits the need for them as for me. Subject(s): Birds; Bluebirds; Gardens & Gardening | ||||||||
A bluebird found a hole in my old china tree, "Chir-rip, chir-ree," He said to me. "Go on in," I said to him, "And I shall gladly your hostess be." Another one joined him from not far away, "Chir-rip, chir-ray," She was so gay! "Yes, I know He's your beau. I, too, was married the month of May." Three more in the little hole now there be, "Chee-chee, chee-chee," So say all three. House or nest, Which is best? God fits the need for them as for me. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...NOVEMBER GARDEN: AN ELEGY by ANDREW HUDGINS AN ENGLISH GARDEN IN AUSTRIA (SEEN AFTER DER ROSENKAVALIER) by RANDALL JARRELL ACROSS THE BROWN RIVER by GALWAY KINNELL A DESERTED GARDEN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS NOT THE SWEET CICELY OF GERARDES HERBALL by MARGARET AVISON AN OLD GARDEN by HERBERT BASHFORD THE VALLEY BROOK by JOHN HOWARD BRYANT |
