THE THOROUGHBRED, by KATE DOWNING GHENT First Line: Way out in front just a - breezin' along Last Line: Way out in front just a-breezin' along. Subject(s): Animals; Horses | ||||||||
'Way out in front just a-breezin' along -- Like nobody's business -- listen for the gong, A thoroughbred is racin', his hoofs beat a song -- You'll find him in front just breezin' along. Steppin' out in front, his head held so high, You'd think he was seein' stars in the sky -- A thoroughbred is racin' -- see the sparks fly -- 'Way out in front he's tellin' 'em good-by. Bet your bottom dollar, you'll not go wrong, See the lordly air he's castin' o'er the throng -- A thoroughbred is racin', he's goin' strong 'Way out in front just a-breezin' along. A lesson he is teachin' -- Are you goin' strong -- Are you steppin' lively, on your lips a song -- A thoroughbred in breedin'? -- Then you belong 'Way out in front just a-breezin' along. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ALL THE LITTLE HOOFPRINTS by ROBINSON JEFFERS ROAN STALLION by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE HORSES by KATHARINE LEE BATES DANCERS AT THE MOY by PAUL MULDOON |
