A NIGHT OF NIGHTS, by
First Line: Tall silver poplars stand against a sky of blue
Last Line: And this is just a night of nights when one is glad he lives.
Subject(s): Night; Bedtime

Tall silver poplars stand against a sky of blue,
And farther down the horizon, a glittering moon that's new,
A liquid-throated mockingbird awakes the echoes clear,
A fountain drips and tinkles from a grotto that is near.

And from a distant patio a soft guitar is humming,
Like wing beats of silver moths against the window thumming,
The world is sparkling with the light the tiny moonlet gives
And this is just a night of nights when one is glad he lives.
