STORM WARNING, by LOUISE GOODSON First Line: Since I cannot discourage you from this Last Line: Is but a sprite who never can be good. | |||
Since I cannot discourage you from this, This mad intent to have me what the cost, Come seal your fated bargain with a kiss And count your future peace a world well lost. Remember that I warned you, when the first Small pool of wonder filled your eager eyes, That I was not the nectar for your thirst, You saw me in a glamorous disguise. And believing me the angel I am not, You vest me with the charms you'd have me wear; Too soon you must discover that the lot Which you have drawn will only bring despair, For what you took as perfect womanhood Is but a sprite who never can be good. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BUSY HEART by RUPERT BROOKE OH, SWEET CONTENT by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES HIS EXCELLENCY GENERAL WASHINGTON by PHILLIS WHEATLEY SATIRES: 51.
