SPRING, by ALFRED M. HANSEN First Line: Once again the birds are moving, from the Last Line: It's a strength-giving season with its balmy atmosphere. Subject(s): Seasons | ||||||||
Once again the birds are moving, from the southland to the north And the sun is coming closer, new life is springing forth; On the hillside and the meadow, the grass is peeking through, Pussywillows are in bloom, and trees are budding too. The cattle in the barnyard seems to scent the pasture land, Winter's tribulation is forgotten now by man When language of the ducks and crows is in the air You will know that frost is passing and spring is almost here. It's the time when man and beast get another lease on life; It gives to man renewed strength to face his worldly strife. Of all the seasons of the year, springtime seems the best, When elements of nature survive from winter's rest. God brings forth the lightning and bombards the earth, He wakens everything asleep and gives to them new birth. That invisible Magician shows wonders everywhere, It's a strength-giving season with its balmy atmosphere. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...NO AUTUMN IN MY COUNTRY by MEENA ALEXANDER AFTER TU FU (THEY SAY YOU'RE STAYING IN A MOUNTAIN TEMPLE) by MARVIN BELL HE HAD A GOOD YEAR by MARVIN BELL SO IT'S TODAY by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR CONTRA MORTEM: THE FALL by HAYDEN CARRUTH BALLADE OF DEAD FRIENDS by EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON |
