AFTER A CONVERSATION, by GLADYS HASSE First Line: This pungent, penetrating talk we've had Last Line: Enriched my views and made my spirits tower. Subject(s): Conversation | |||
This pungent, penetrating talk we've had Is like a salty wind blown from the sea; Unlike the listless, bored discourse that we Have known too well are these straight words that add A leavening to our lives. This interchange Of views, my friend, has of a certainty Been good. My spirit, knowing beggary, Has had a flashing hour of further range. And now that I have known such spirited Completion, I shall hunger for more frank Exciting interchange of views instead Of wasting time in idle talk where clank Of gossip lingers more than thought. This hour Enriched my views and made my spirits tower. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...TODAY'S NOT OPPOSITE DAY by CHARLES BERNSTEIN WORDS THE DREAMER SPOKE TO MY FATHER IN MAINE by ROBERT BLY A CONVERSATION WITH MONICA WILSON by AIME CESAIRE TWO WOMEN ON THE POTOMAC HIGHWAY by NORMAN DUBIE IT JUST SO HAPPENS by JAMES GALVIN DRIFTERS: BELLA COOLA TO WILLIAMS LAKE by KAREN SWENSON SPLENDOUR OF MY HEART by GLADYS HASSE |
