Dad didn't like the card they chose To send with the gifts to Tom and Rose. "But that's not one for a wedding, you know!" The children insisted, "She'll love it so!" Over this present the little bride Lingered the longest. To Tom with pride She showed the spoons. "This took the lot Of nickels and pennies they have got." Then at the card they stared, for there Were angels hovering in the air, Strewing graves with flowers white; And underneath, "We hope you're quite As happy as these angels here. Have many happy weddings, dear." | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A BLESSING FOR A WEDDING by JANE HIRSHFIELD A SUITE FOR MARRIAGE by DAVID IGNATOW ADVICE TO HER SON ON MARRIAGE by MARY BARBER THE RABBI'S SON-IN-LAW by SABINE BARING-GOULD KISSING AGAIN by DORIANNE LAUX A TIME PAST by DENISE LEVERTOV POEMS FROM NA KEIKI O HAWAII: HE COULDN'T HELP IT by BEATRICE KIRSTEN HOFGAARD POEMS FROM NA KEIKI O HAWAII: HERO WORSHIP by BEATRICE KIRSTEN HOFGAARD POEMS FROM NA KEIKI O HAWAII: HOOKANO by BEATRICE KIRSTEN HOFGAARD |
