FLOWING STREAM, by IBN HAMDIS First Line: The surface of the flowing stream Last Line: Impetuously in its deeps. | |||
The surface of the flowing stream Is polished by the prying wind, Resolved to publish, it would seem, The secrets hidden in its mind. The jagged pebbles gash its flanks, And as the waters swell again And ever o'er the river's banks It murmurs fretfully in pain. As if a serpent, terrified Beneath the bubbles as it sleeps, Awakens suddenly, to slide Impetuously in its deeps. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...TELL'S BIRTHPLACE by SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE A BALLAD OF ATHLONE; OR, HOW THEY BROKE DOWN THE BRIDGE by AUBREY THOMAS DE VERE THE ROAD TO FRANCE by DANIEL MACINTYRE HENDERSON THE VAMPIRE by RUDYARD KIPLING WHITTIER by MARGARET ELIZABETH MUNSON SANGSTER HYMN TO INTELLECTUAL BEAUTY by PERCY BYSSHE SHELLEY FRAGMENTS INTENDED FOR DEATH'S JEST-BOOK: MOURNER'S CONSOLED by THOMAS LOVELL BEDDOES |
