MOTHER, by ROBERT W. JAMES First Line: Down the highways and byways of yesteryears Last Line: To your one and only mother. Subject(s): Mothers | ||||||||
Down the highways and byways of yesteryears Trek the memories of friends and others; But the loveliest thoughts of all the rest Are the thoughts of one, our Mother. Have you stopped to think of the friends you have? Loved ones, and maybe a lover; But of all the rest there is only one That you can call your Mother. From a babe she cared for and loved you; There never was another Who fretted and worried like her But the one you call your Mother. Now time has not been kind to her, Her age, her smile can't cover So think awhile and give a thought To your one and only Mother. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MY MOTHER'S HANDS by ANDREW HUDGINS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS IN THE 25TH YEAR OF MY MOTHER'S DEATH by JUDY JORDAN THE PAIDLIN' WEAN by ALEXANDER ANDERSON BLASTING FROM HEAVEN by PHILIP LEVINE ODE TO TOBACCO by CHARLES STUART CALVERLEY |
