Like cells in a prison,
Row upon row,
Tier above tier,
The books in the library
Hold confined
Great souls.

A youth comes in,
Eager, suncrowned,
And takes from the shelf a book.
I watch him read:
His eyes are aglow;
And I know
An Ariel is freed
To serve his need;
The lad is Prospero.
