DESERT BEAUTY, by RUTH BROWN JOHNSTON First Line: Gray sage against gray sand Last Line: Saying farewell behind. Subject(s): Deserts; Food & Eating | ||||||||
Gray sage against gray sand -- Loping, long-eared rabbits -- Bones bleaching in the desert sun. Lizards darting from a rock, Purple haze over all stretching on To distant purple peaks. Creeping over the hills The mist comes stealing in. Trailing whiteness, filmy daintiness. Leaving lonely shadows on the hills Black with the living sun Saying farewell behind. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WAITRESSING IN THE ROOM WITH A THOUSAND MOONS by MATTHEA HARVEY CANDIED YAMS' by TERRANCE HAYES DINNER OF HERBS by LOUISE MOREY BOWMAN THE BANQUET SONG by KENNETH KOCH |
