First Line: Love is a little trembling bird
Last Line: Nor half so beautiful as its song.

Love is a little trembling bird,
Ready to fly if the air be stirred
By the chilling breath of a bitter word.

But warm and nourished it will sing
With pulsing throat and fluttering wing
Till the world breaks into blossoming.

It will sing in your heart your whole life long;
And nothing will ever be quite so strong,
Nor half so beautiful as its song.
