BIG MOMENTS, by ETHEL VEVA KING First Line: We live in little things through all our days Last Line: When big intensive moments come whereby we measure life. Subject(s): Life; Surprise; Time | ||||||||
We live in little things through all our days, Until big moments come that with translucent haze Enveil the small, to stand themselves in livid light, Alone, erect, supreme, upon the tallest height. We live in little laughs, we live in little tears, We have our little joys, we have our little fears, Until big moments come, and then we rise and stand, And face our inner God, and grasp Him by the hand, And livelive lifeand touch the farthest crest, The pinnacle that lifts us high above the rest, Above the paltry turmoil, above the narrow strife, When big intensive moments come whereby we measure life. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ELEVEN EYES: FINAL SECTION by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: COME OCTOBER by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: HOME by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: TIME IS FILLED by LYN HEJINIAN SLOWLY: I FREQUENTLY SLOWLY WISH by LYN HEJINIAN ALL THE DIFFICULT HOURS AND MINUTES by JANE HIRSHFIELD A DAY IS VAST by JANE HIRSHFIELD |
