ODE TO SPRING, by EMERALD BROWNING KOEB First Line: O spring, fair earth's awakening! Last Line: And sleep in the primal ethers that abound. Subject(s): Spring | ||||||||
O spring, fair earth's awakening! Through cleansing drops of crystal tears Your wooing voice makes all life ring With music sweeter than man hears From dusk to dawn at other times And with all other rhythm rhymes. You lull our aching hearts to rest On your sweet, throbbing, virgin breast. All aches forgotten in your arms, We breathe as Eve breathed at birth; Your lips our aching-cold form warms And we begin to see that death Is life grown old from chilling cold As house of clay begins to mold: We'll cuddle us warm your arms around And sleep in the primal ethers that abound. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD NOCTURNE by EMERALD BROWNING KOEB |
