Renunciation

There is one thing in life that is priced very high,
If you've wed once, but lost love, you'd better not try
To seek love again, if you can't seek it right,
For the soul that gives love needs your help day and night.

A love that's spasmodic -- that's a chance, or a dare,
Where there's no responsibility -- not even a care,
Where one or the other is tied, hands and feet,
There's nothing to that -- except sad retreat.

It's the daily test of the ups and downs,
Some always bring smiles, some nothing but frowns.
If you've won for a pal, one who'll smile when she's blue,
You're in luck: she loves you because you are you.

Courage

Rise in the morning, don the same clothes,
Again the old longing that nobody knows.
Put on a smile that will cover the ache,
Hold up the chin and let the heart break.

What of the morrow? It's a new day!
Stifle the sorrow, to grieve doesn't pay.
The load will be lighter as time passes by,
But the glory of love, does it ever die?

Confession

Such a hopeless horizon -- but life must go on,
The soul sobs a dirge, while the voice hums a song.
Much better mark time with no love in the past,
Than be haunted by dreams with shadows steadfast.

When death steals one's loved one, Father Time heals that pain,
But when love is renounced -- one must fight to keep sane.
Even old Mother Nature wipes the tears from her eyes,
When she hears both her children try to stifle their cries.
