ALL CREEDS IN ONE, by FANIA KRUGER First Line: Child-like we grapple for the stars, the sun Last Line: Men shall love man, life's one immortal creed. | |||
Child-like we grapple for the stars, the sun, Rend creed from creed with fire and shell and spear, Creating chaos till our hate undone Distorts a land once glad and prophet-clear. How long shall lust for power make of our globe A bloody shamble for the artisan, The laborer where famine's scanty robe Be all there is to warm the heart of man? How long must war lay bare the harvest field, And songs of hatred drive us toward decay? Our psalms should be the sharing of earth's yield, A living faith to fortify the day. Within the dark awaits the glorious seed: Men shall love man, life's one immortal creed. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PERVASIVE WILL by FANIA KRUGER RIVER OF MEMORIES by FANIA KRUGER THE CZAR PASSES by FANIA KRUGER WHOM THE NEW MOON MOCKS by FANIA KRUGER IN A LECTURE-ROOM by ARTHUR HUGH CLOUGH THE BROOK; AN IDYL: THE BROOK'S SONG by ALFRED TENNYSON LEISTON ABBEY by BERNARD BARTON A NEW PILGRIMAGE: 38 by WILFRID SCAWEN BLUNT HINC LACHRIMAE; OR THE AUTHOR TO AURORA: 21 by WILLIAM BOSWORTH |
