THE STROLLER, by                     Poet's Biography
First Line: A wind came wandering up the street
Last Line: I think she got a kiss from him!

A wind came wandering up the street,
And all the flowers made friends with him:
And every tree he chanced to meet
Was happy to shake hands with him.

And every loving mother tree
Her little leaves held out to him:
They laughed and clapped their hands in glee
And seemed to crow and shout to him.

Full many a roguish little bloom
As he went by would laugh at him;
While one old witch-tree, like a broom,
Cackled, and shook her staff at him.

But wistful violet, in the grass—
No one expected this from him—
When she glanced up to see him pass,
I think she got a kiss from him!
