TO ONE UNBORN, by ELAINE M. LIVINGSTON First Line: With eyes that use not earthly light or color Last Line: My child's grandchild, yet to be born on earth. Subject(s): Future Life; Imaginary Conversations; Retribution; Eternity; After Life | ||||||||
With eyes that use not earthly light or color I see you often, little babe to be. Will it be months or years before you enter This mundane school of life with blood of me? Which one of my descendants here will woo you? Will you still have my mouth, my eyes, my hair? Will you arrive while I am still in earth life, Or after I have journeyed over there? However, you'll be welcome and beloved Whenever Karma designates your birth, To bless us -- first girl in our generation -- My child's grandchild, yet to be born on earth. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...IKON: THE HARROWING OF HELL by DENISE LEVERTOV LEEK STREET by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR UNABLE TO FIND by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR THE AFTERLIFE: LETTER TO STEPHEN DOBYNS 3 by HAYDEN CARRUTH THE AFTERLIFE: LETTER TO STEPHEN DOBYNS: 1 by HAYDEN CARRUTH THE AFTERLIFE: LETTER TO STEPHEN DOBYNS: 2 by HAYDEN CARRUTH WRITING IN THE AFTERLIFE by BILLY COLLINS AU CONTRAIRE by ELAINE M.
