SPRING, by HAZEL FUNK LOCKWOOD First Line: A flash of blue in the lilac hedge Last Line: Spring -- sweet spring -- is here again. Subject(s): Spring | ||||||||
A flash of blue in the lilac hedge, A robin on the housetop's edge Sing -- Spring is here! The tulips through the molded leaves Pushing their way to sun and breeze Say -- Spring is here! The rosy buds on my almond tree Burst into lovely bloom and see That -- Spring is here! The gentle rain on my windowpane Whispers softly the sweet refrain, Ah -- Spring is here! And though the spring of my life is past, My soul is not sad nor yet downcast; For have I not seen the flash of blue, The bursting buds and the tulips too? So my heart joins in the glad refrain Of birds and flowers and gentle rain, Spring -- sweet spring -- is here again. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD THE BRIDGE: 7.
