HEALING, by ETHEL GODFREY LOUD First Line: From all the hustle, bustle, nerve-wear, noise Last Line: If once he knows the healing woods of maine. Subject(s): Forests; Healing; Life; Woods; Cures | ||||||||
From all the hustle, bustle, nerve-wear, noise Of Wall St. to the silent Woods of Maine, From all the touch with Man that frets and cloys To touch with Nature -- nurse of flesh and brain -- We come for healing. How the wine-clear air Brings cleansing to us with each whiff we breathe! How all the sunlit forest coolly fair Contrasts with streets where crowds and traffic seethe! What prima-donna greater than the thrush? What French cuisine can give such fresh brook-trout? What park can show a foliage as lush As all the forest rising roundabout? Man feels a Man. Life's not been lived in vain If once he knows the healing Woods of Maine. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ONE VOLUME MISSING by RITA DOVE READING HOLDERLIN ON THE PATIO WITH THE AID OF A DICTIONARY by RITA DOVE BANGLA DESH: 2.
