YELLOW LEAVES, by BENJAMIN ROBBINS CURTIS LOW First Line: Songs, once heard, are heard again Last Line: There is no tomorrow. Subject(s): Leaves; Time | ||||||||
Songs, once heard, are heard again With first hearing laden; Be it joy they brushed, or pain, Be it man or maiden, Down the years they bear off, now Memories for freighting; Sunsets in their sails, at prow, Lanterns of long waiting. Raindrops in the dark, to one, Hush two hearts together; This man loves an April sun, That, wild ocean weather. When you said it, yesterday, Yellow leaves wore sorrow: Yellow leaves will always say There is no tomorrow. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ELEVEN EYES: FINAL SECTION by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: COME OCTOBER by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: HOME by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: TIME IS FILLED by LYN HEJINIAN SLOWLY: I FREQUENTLY SLOWLY WISH by LYN HEJINIAN ALL THE DIFFICULT HOURS AND MINUTES by JANE HIRSHFIELD A DAY IS VAST by JANE HIRSHFIELD FROM THIS HEIGHT by TONY HOAGLAND FOR THE DEDICATION OF A TOY THEATRE by BENJAMIN ROBBINS CURTIS LOW |
