TO A MOCKINGBIRD, by PEARL H. LUEBKE First Line: Little bird upon my sill Last Line: Gloom dispelled and fear made glad. Subject(s): Mockingbirds | ||||||||
Little bird upon my sill, How I love to feel your thrill! Happy home up in a tree, Pretty sight for child to see. When the years round 'bout you pass, And your family's en masse, Song and twitter all afloat That has come from your dear throat, I shall call to those who pass -- Other birds now on the grass, From your throat has come pure joy Like the whistle of a boy. Praise to God who sent you here, Just to wipe away a fear From a troubled heart that's sad, Gloom dispelled and fear made glad. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...TO OUR MOCKING-BIRD; DIED OF A CAT, MAY, 1878 by SIDNEY LANIER MOCKING BIRDS by KENNETH REXROTH MOCKINGBIRD MONTH by MONA VAN DUYN PATRIOTIC TOUR AND POSTULATE OF JOY by ROBERT PENN WARREN THE MOCKING BIRD by SIDNEY LANIER THE MOCKING-BIRD by FRANK LEBBY STANTON TO THE MOCKINGBIRD by RICHARD HENRY WILDE |
