SUNLIGHT, by
First Line: The gray mist drapes itself about the trees
Last Line: When instantly the sunlight filters through.
Subject(s): Friendship

The gray mist drapes itself about the trees
And hides the scarlet poppies from our view.
Softly it rests, like tulle, upon the hills
Nor lets a ray of sunlight filter through.

Yet I recall a day when breezes sped
The lingering cobwebs from this shadowy vale.
That day we wandered to the mountain top
And dreamed not youth nor life nor love could fail.

Somewhere today you walk, with gracious mien,
Gone from your mind the casual friend you knew.
Gray are the mists, till I recall your eyes
When instantly the sunlight filters through.
