SUNLIGHT, by BEULAH H. LYON First Line: The gray mist drapes itself about the trees Last Line: When instantly the sunlight filters through. Subject(s): Friendship | |||
The gray mist drapes itself about the trees And hides the scarlet poppies from our view. Softly it rests, like tulle, upon the hills Nor lets a ray of sunlight filter through. Yet I recall a day when breezes sped The lingering cobwebs from this shadowy vale. That day we wandered to the mountain top And dreamed not youth nor life nor love could fail. Somewhere today you walk, with gracious mien, Gone from your mind the casual friend you knew. Gray are the mists, till I recall your eyes When instantly the sunlight filters through. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...YOU & I BELONG IN THIS KITCHEN by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA JASON THE REAL by TONY HOAGLAND NO RESURRECTION by ROBINSON JEFFERS CHAMBER MUSIC: 17 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 18 by JAMES JOYCE THE STONE TABLE by GALWAY KINNELL ALMSWOMAN by EDMUND CHARLES BLUNDEN TO AN ENEMY by MAXWELL BODENHEIM SONNET: 10.
