THE WIDOW, by ELEANOR T. MACMILLAN First Line: I am alone Last Line: Depicting all my happy days with you. Subject(s): Widows & Widowers | |||
I am alone. Never again shall I hear your voice, Nor rejoice At your possessive touch. I had thought that in life's clatter It might not matter Much That one from all these mortals That I meet, Should have so prematurely pressed his feet Upon the portals Of eternity. Before you went there always seemed So many people here, I scarcely dreamed How dear You were to me. But now I know I shall forever see Your face in all the countenances I greet. Your shadow walks beside me down the street. And sometimes when I look where time-tinged blue Comes slanting through The wings of heaven on earth's tragic drama, I see my heart's perpetual panorama Depicting all my happy days with you. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A WIDOW SPEAKS TO THE AURORA'S OF A DECEMBER NIGHT by NORMAN DUBIE NEW AGE AT AIRPORT MESA by NORMAN DUBIE POPHAM OF THE NEW SONG: 5; FOR R.P.
