SOME OTHER TIME, by DOUGLAS MALLOCH Poet's Biography First Line: I told him we our game would play Last Line: Some other time that never came. Subject(s): Automobile Accidents; Play; Stillbirth; Death - Childbirth | ||||||||
I told him we our game would play Some other time, less busy day; And so he sighed and went away. A smile upon his features died; He bit his lip, and turned aside, His childish heart unsatisfied. I heard the patter of his feet Go down the stairs and down the street, Some playmate there perhaps to meet. I heard a fool go speeding by; I heard a car, I heard a cry; Now that's a year ago, and I -- So many things had greater claim, Some other time we'd play our game -- Some other time that never came. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY: ELIZABETH CHILDERS by EDGAR LEE MASTERS ANNIVERSARY by PRIMUS ST.
