CHILD THOUGHT, by JOSIE MANUS First Line: When jesus was a child like me Last Line: He was a child like me. Subject(s): Jesus Christ - Childhood & Youth | ||||||||
When Jesus was a child like me, And lived in Palestine, He had no rich and costly things, Nor a cosy house like mine. He helped his father in the shop, Ran errands for his mother, He brought her water from the well And cared for baby brother. He must have played with other boys Who ran and raced in glee, Perhaps he carved a little boat To sail on Galilee. Since Jesus was a carpenter, Perhaps he made a toy For little sister, small enough To play with and enjoy. I picture him in dreams, although His face I cannot see. But still I'm happy just to know He was a child like me. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...IN THE CARPENTER'S SHOP by SARA TEASDALE THE LAMB, FR.
